How to use bonus funds on Bovada and clear the rollover
We earn a commission if you open a Bovada account through links on this page.
You claim most Bovada bonuses from the Rewards menu, usually by picking the bonus before you make the deposit it’s tied to. After that you bet as normal. Bovada decides which balance each bet comes out of, and eligible bets count toward the rollover you have to finish before the bonus can be withdrawn.
How much a bet counts depends on the result in the sportsbook and on the game in the casino. Some games and bet types can’t be played with bonus money at all.
How to claim a bonus
- Log in, click the profile icon at the top of the page and choose Rewards.
- For a deposit bonus, click Deposit next to the bonus you want, then make the deposit. Bovada adds the bonus once the deposit goes through, and says the sports welcome bonus is ready to bet within 30 minutes.
- If Bovada emailed you a bonus code, enter it in the code field and click Redeem.
- For a Free Chip bonus, click Claim and it’s added straight away.
Pick the bonus first and then deposit, which is the order Bovada’s help and offer pages give. The sports welcome bonus only works on your first deposit. Some offers also list a code on their promotion page, such as CAWELCOME100 for the first casino welcome deposit, so check the offer before you pay in.
The minimum deposit is $20 unless an offer says otherwise. Bovada limits each bonus to one per person, household, address, device or IP address, among other things, and voucher and player transfer deposits can’t be used to claim one.
To see where a bonus can be used, look at the icons shown with it. A football means the sportsbook and a slot-machine reel means the casino. Expand the Bonus Description to read the full terms.
Welcome bonuses and their rollover
| Offer | Bonus | Rollover |
|---|---|---|
| Sports welcome bonus | 50% up to $250, first deposit | 5x sports, 5x horses, 30x casino |
| Crypto sports bonus | 75% up to $750 | 5x |
| Casino welcome bonus | 100% up to $1,000 on each of 3 deposits | 25x |
| Crypto casino bonus | 125% up to $1,250 on each of 3 deposits | 25x (see note) |
| Poker welcome bonus | 100% up to $500 | No rollover; released $5 per 150 poker Rewards Points within 30 days |
Deposit $400 with the sports welcome bonus and you get $200, so you need $600 × 5 = $3,000 in sports bets. Deposit $100 with the casino welcome bonus and you get $100, so you need $200 × 25 = $5,000 in casino bets that count.
Our Bovada bonus codes page has the current code for each offer and a calculator for what clearing the rollover is likely to cost.
Which balance your bets come from
Bovada spends your balances in a set order, and the order depends on the type of bonus.
- With a deposit bonus: Available to Withdraw first, then Locked Funds, then Bonus Funds.
- With a cash bonus, such as one you redeem with Rewards points: Bonus Funds first, then Available to Withdraw, then Locked Funds.
So with a deposit bonus, any withdrawable money already in your account is bet before your deposit, and the bonus money goes last. With a cash bonus, you’re betting the bonus from the start. Our article on locked funds on Bovada explains each balance and how your deposit is released.
How sports bets count toward rollover
- A winning bet counts for the smaller of the amount you risked and the amount you won.
- A losing bet counts for the full amount you risked.
- A push, tie, no-action or voided bet counts for nothing.
| Bet | Result | Counts toward rollover |
|---|---|---|
| $55 at -110 | Wins $50 | $50 |
| $60 at -300 | Wins $20 | $20 |
| $50 at +150 | Wins $75 | $50 |
| $55 at -110 | Loses | $55 |
| $50 at -110 | Push | $0 |
A bet at plus-money odds counts for its full stake whether it wins or loses. A winning favorite counts for less than you staked, so it moves the rollover along more slowly. Whatever you bet, expect some losses along the way, since at -110 you need to win 52.38% of your bets to break even (110 ÷ 210). Our guide to money lines explains how these odds work.
How casino games count
| Game | Share that counts | A $100 bet counts as |
|---|---|---|
| Slots and specialty games | 100% | $100 |
| Table games | 20% | $20 |
| Video poker and blackjack | 10% | $10 |
| Roulette and baccarat | 5% | $5 |
| Double-deck blackjack | 2% | $2 |
| Numbers game, single-deck blackjack, craps, live casino | 0% | $0 |
Every casino game has a house edge, so the more you bet, the more you should expect to lose on average. That’s why the rates matter. The $5,000 rollover from the casino example above takes $5,000 of slot play, but $50,000 in blackjack bets at 10%. Bovada also lists more than 700 casino titles that don’t count toward playthrough at all.
What bonus money can’t be used on
Bovada’s bonus terms say bonus funds can’t be used on:
- Live casino games
- Virtual sports
- Hot Drop Jackpot games
- Sports futures
Individual offers can add to that list, so check the Bonus Description. Bovada’s terms count playing bonus money on excluded games as bonus abuse.
Rules while a bonus is active
- Each bet is capped at 50% of your deposit in the sportsbook and 20% in the casino.
- Withdrawing or cashing out bets before the rollover is complete may cost you the bonus and its winnings.
- Most bonuses expire after six months.
Our article on why you can’t withdraw bonus funds covers these rules and what forfeiting a bonus costs you.
Checking your progress
Click the profile icon, choose Rewards and look under Active Bonuses. The Playthrough Progress bar shows how far along you are, and hovering over the information icon shows how much is left to bet. Once you finish, the bonus and its winnings move to your Available to Withdraw balance.

If you’re comparing Bovada’s sports offers, the crypto bonus matches 75% up to $750, against 50% up to $250 for the standard sports bonus. Bovada’s promotions page lists a 5x rollover for both.
