Crown Wagers is an independent website with plain-English guides to Bovada and to the basics of betting on sports. We aren’t a sportsbook. You can’t open an account or place a bet here, and we never hold anyone’s money.
What we cover
Most of our readers already use Bovada or are thinking about it, and they have practical questions: how long a withdrawal takes, why money shows up as locked, which states Bovada blocks, what a teaser pays. Our Bovada help section answers those, and our betting guides explain how common bets work and how lines are set.
Where our facts come from
We work from primary sources wherever they exist: Bovada’s own help center and terms of service, state gaming regulators and attorneys general, state statutes, court records, and league rulebooks. Each article lists its sources at the bottom so you can check them.
When a number isn’t published, we say so instead of guessing. Bovada’s own pages sometimes disagree with each other, and when they do we tell you which figure we used and why. We don’t publish betting records or “trends” we can’t trace to a source.
Rules change, so we date our fact checks and update articles when Bovada or a state changes something. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.
How we make money
Crown Wagers is a Bovada affiliate. When you open a Bovada account through one of our links, Bovada pays us a share of the revenue from that account. That’s how the site pays for itself. Affiliate links are marked, and every page that has one says so near the top.
The commission doesn’t change what we write. We publish the downsides too: the fee on card deposits after the first, the $100 charge on every check withdrawal, the states it won’t accept, and the fact that no US state licenses it.
Bovada’s legal status
Bovada is an offshore sportsbook. It isn’t licensed by any US state, it doesn’t accept players from 19 states and Washington, DC, and state laws on betting with unlicensed sites vary. If you live in a state with legal online sports betting, a state-licensed sportsbook gives you more protection, because it answers to a state regulator if something goes wrong. Our state pages, like Texas, California and Florida, explain the rules where they apply. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
Betting responsibly
You have to be 18 or older to use Bovada, or older where your state requires it. Only bet money you’ve set aside to lose. Our responsible gambling page covers the limits and self-exclusion tools Bovada offers and where to get help.
